Heating Ventillation - Air Conditioning

Heating ventillation - Air conditioning

Air conditioning is an ideal way of controlling the internal environment of any building, large or small.

It does not only provide cooling when required, but also heating and often hot water can also be supplied from the same system. Providing heating and hot water as part of an integrated system is far more efficient than traditional heating methods such as gas and as a result reduced running costs and emissions can be realised, More and more people are experiencing the benefits of comfortable working, living and leisure environments made possible with air source heat pumps

Air-to-air heat pumps are designed to directly heat the air within the building. Heat is extracted from the external air via an externally located unit housing the evaporator. The internally located condenser heats the air where it is supplied to the building.

Where more than one area within the building is to be heated, or where the area is large, an air distribution system can be used to supply the air. Multiple internal units can also be used to heat separate areas.

An air-to-air heat pump may be a dedicated heat pump package providing heating only, but split, multi-split and variable refrigerant volume (VRF) comfort cooling systems can also be thought of as heat pumps if they have the ability to operate in reverse and provide heating.

Air-to-water heat pumps use water as the heat sink. The heated water can be used for space heating or for domestic hot water.

Ventilation can also be improved with the use of total heat exchangers designed to reduce overall energy costs by extracting stale air and the recovering the heating or cooling energy to either warm or cool incoming fresh air.

By utilising this energy, the ventilation systems can save up to 30% on initial capital costs of heating and cooling plants.
